CAN Bus faults can quickly become confusing. Network diagrams, resistance measurements, CAN High and CAN Low waveforms, multiple modules and communication faults can make it difficult to know where to test next.
Over four weeks, Darren will help you build a logical CAN Bus diagnostic process that you can take back and use in the workshop.
By the end of the Master Class, you'll have a better understanding of how CAN Bus works and a logical process for diagnosing network faults with confidence.
Understand how CAN networks operate
Carry out resistance and voltage tests
Set up an oscilloscope for CAN testing
Analyse CAN High and CAN Low waveforms
Diagnose communication faults logically
Four weeks of structured training designed to build your knowledge step by step and turn it into a practical diagnostic process.
Understand how CAN Bus communication works, network structure, CAN High and CAN Low, termination and perform quick diagnostic test to confirm network operation.
Learn how to set up the oscilloscope for different fault scenarios, identify what good measurements should look like and how to recognise when something isn't right. Use Math Channels to get deeper insights on network health.
Work through CAN Bus faults and learn how to follow a logical diagnostic process instead of guessing or replacing parts unnecessarily. Analyse oscilloscope waveforms for various different fault types.
Use CAN Bus analysis and serial decoding to identify messages on the CAN bus network and use various software to help reverse engineer CAN messages for diagnostic scenarios.
Ready to improve your CAN Bus diagnostics?
Starts 9th January 2027 • Limited to 300 participants
Take part in the training, ask questions and continue learning between each weekly session.
One 2–3 hour live training session each week.
Ask questions and discuss the diagnostics during each session.
Stay connected with Darren and other Master Class participants throughout the four weeks.
Put what you're learning into practice between the live sessions.
Every session will be recorded so you can revisit the training whenever you need it.

Learn directly with Darren over four weeks as he breaks CAN Bus diagnostics down into practical testing methods and a logical diagnostic process you can use in the workshop.
Darren started as a BMW apprentice and spent 10 years on the workshop floor dealing with real diagnostic challenges. He later moved into technical training and led the Audi UK Master Technician programme, working with hundreds of experienced technicians, before joining JLR Train-the-Trainer team and leading the training development creation.
That combination of workshop and training experience shaped Darren's approach to teaching diagnostics: take complex subjects, make them easier to understand, and give technicians a logical process they can confidently apply to real faults.
Being able to ask questions in real-time during the live sessions is invaluable. Darren doesn't just teach theory—he works through actual vehicle scenarios with us. The interactive format means I can apply what I learn directly to my workshop the next day.
Before Mechanic Mindset, I was outsourcing any electrical work I couldn't figure out. Now I tackle CAN Bus diagnostics with confidence. Darren has a gift for making complex topics accessible. My diagnostic accuracy has improved dramatically.

Every Master Class participant will receive a physical copy of our new CAN Bus Diagnostics Book and a CAN Bus Analyser Tool to use alongside the training.
Follow along with the book during the Master Class, then keep it as a practical CAN Bus reference in the workshop afterwards.

CAN Bus Diagnostics Book & Analyser Tool included
The programme progresses from fundamentals through to advanced CAN Bus diagnostics and is designed for automotive technicians wanting to improve their CAN Bus knowledge and diagnostic process.
The Master Class starts with the fundamentals before progressing into more advanced testing and diagnostics, making it accessible for those newer to CAN Bus technology.
This is intended to be interactive training with live Q&A, direct interaction with Darren and a private group, rather than a large one-way webinar. We have a global audience so the clinics will be delivered at different time to allow everyone to chance to join live.
Every session will be recorded and participants receive lifetime access to all recordings.
Equipment is not mandatory to join, however the following tolls will enhance the learning experience:
Live Training will be delivered at weekends around 7pm UK time. We will then host additional 'CAN Bus Clinics' so you can join and ask questions, review activities or explore CAN bus case studies and testing techniques. We will record all sessions, and grant lifetime access to recordings.
Training Sessions will last between 2-3 hours with time for Q&A.
Yes, the CAN Bus Diagnostic book is included with the Master Class and can be used to follow along with the training and complete activities.
We ship globally. Occasionally it's difficult to ship to remote locations, however we make best efforts to get the items to you.
We will send you the instruction to order your and tool. Shipping can take between 1-2 weeks depending on your location and local customs process.
We will have a private community for all Master Class attendees. You can access it from your online Mechanic Mindset account by signing in to mechanicmindset.com, or by downloading the Mechanic Mindset mobile app.
We have offered lifetime access to the program after it ends. As long as Mechanic Mindset is operational, you will have access to the recordings via your Mechanic Mindset account. If anything should happen, we will make arrangements to ensure access is continued.
The Master Class is separate to the Diagnostic Coach program.
